The tools to help a child cope with issues, such as starting school, fears and anxieties, anger and frustration, and disabilities and chronic illness, often can be found in children's fiction.

But finding the right book is difficult. A good book about a character facing the same problem can reassure a child that he isn't alone - and teach problem-solving skills - without preaching or lecturing.
